The Wightlink Raiders will go seven points clear at the top of ice hockey’s English National League if they can beat champions Invicta Dynamos at Ryde Arena tomorrow.
Invicta, from Gillingham in Kent, have won the ENL title seven times in the last eight years, but know defeat on the Island tomorrow will make the Raiders odds on favourites to lift the championship.
Jeremy Cornish’s (pictured right) team are now unbeaten in 12 matches with their last defeat a 3-2 loss away to Invicta back in early November.
Prior to that the Island team beat Invicta 4-2 at Ryde Arena in September.
Last weekend the Raiders produced one of their best performances in recent years with the 8-3 thrashing of third placed Chelmsford Chieftains and a bumper crowd is expected tomorrow for what is the biggest game of the season so far.
The match is sponsored by Roddas Cornish Clotted Cream who’ll be handing out special cream teas to the first 300 fans through the door.
Face off at Ryde Arena is at 6pm.
