The Wightlink Raiders will be going all out to clinch the league and play off double as they start their play off campaign against last year’s champions Bracknell Hornets this weekend.
Tomorrow night Jeremy Cornish’s men play the home leg of their two legged quarter final.
The away leg is on Sunday. The winners on aggregate over the two games will then go on to next weekend’s semi-finals.
Raiders defeated Hornets in all matches
So far this season the Hornets have failed to beat the champions with one draw and three wins to the Island team.
But the Raiders will be well aware that it was the Hornets who ended their play off dreams last year with a 6-4 aggregate win in the final.
Defenceman Dan Scott is struggling to be fit but otherwise the Raiders will be at full strength having had three weeks break since clinching the league title against Cardiff on March 19th.
While winning the league title is an amazing achievement for the Island team the play off championship is the one that will matter most to the players and the Raiders go into the quarter finals as slight favourites to add to their silverware.
Face off at Ryde Arena tomorrow night is at the usual time of 6pm and the team will be auctioning off this season’s championship winning shirts in the bar after the game.
