Ralph McTell At Quay Arts

Well done to anyone who managed to get a ticket to see Ralph McTell at Quay Arts tomorrow night. Well done, because all the tickets have been sold out for some time.

For those of you who do not have a clue who Ralph McTell is, in 1974 he managed to pick up the coveted Ivor Novello Award for his worldwide hit, The Streets of London.

It’s one of those songs that can create a huge knot in your throat, but despite this a beautiful folk song.

Ralph’s career in singing and song writing has spanned forty years and he has also picked up a BBC Lifetime Achievement Award along the way.

Tomorrow night will be first time Ralph has played on the Isle of Wight for several years and he is very pleased to be back.

“I love the Island and I have many happy memories of visits here” he says. “One of the best is playing to a quarter of a million people at the famous Isle of Wight Pop Festival. I’m really looking forward to my concert at Quay Arts.”

He won’t just be singing tomorrow though, if you’ve got a ticket, expect to hear anecdotes and readings from his autobiography.
