‘Ello, ‘ello, ‘ello, what ‘ave we got going on ‘ere then?
IW Radio are reporting today that an Isle of Wight Police Station has received the highest number of complaints against officers in the Hampshire Police Force.
Apparently, since 1st January 2008, a whopping 337 complaints have been made against officers at Yarmouth Police station
To put it into context the next highest was Southampton Central with 289 complaints.
Chief Superintendent Ann Wakefield told IW Radio said: “The number of repeat complaints against our officers is considerably lower than that of other forces.
“We as an organisation carefully monitor complaints against officers and if we identify an officer who is clearly receiving a number of complaints against them, we proactively look at those cases and if there are any concerns we immediately deal with it.
“A large proportion of complaints against officers are unfounded and some are found to be false and malicious, but in the instance that complaints are substantiated they are dealt with appropriately.”
Figures for the rest of the Island were 190 in Newport, 63 in Ryde, 51 in Shanklin, 18 in Cowes and four in Ventnor.
