Red Funnel staff have gone all out this year to show their support for Comic Relief in a variety of ways to help raise cash for the annual fund raising event.
Anyone travelling across the Solent on the Red Jets or car ferries might have noticed the huge comedy red noses being sported on the front of the vessels, hopefully encouraging passengers to give generously at the collection points.
We haven’t been over the water this week, but are told that Red Funnel staff have been donning their best scarlet clothing to get everyone in the mood and more excitingly that there is a great give away of two once-in-a-lifetime experiences as prizes.
Prize Draw: Sail a Ferry
If you fancy a free crossing _and_ the opportunity of visiting the bridge and taking the wheel of either the car ferry or the Red Jet, all you have to do is donate £1 and enter the prize draw.
Other ways you can get involved include getting a screen wash by Red Funnel staff in return for a donation as you’re waiting to board.
Mammoth Onboard Cycle
Gus McKechnie, who is currently cycling the entire distance of the equator on a stationary bike onboard Red Funnel Ferries every weekend to raise money for various charities, will be donating all money raised during this weekend to Comic Relief.
Tomato Bath!
Murray Carter, Customer Services Director is taking on the Red Nose Day Challenge personally, by volunteering to sit in a bath full of juicy tomatoes. Staff and customers will be able to join in the fun by paying £1 to throw tomatoes at him.
Murray says “We have been raising money for Red Nose Day all week and have been running a number of fun events with our customers and raise as much money as we can for this fantastic cause”.
