The Island’s RSPCA branch has reopened the doors of its Newport charity shop after re-locating to a new store.
The new shop at 6-8 Carisbrooke Road at the top of Newport High Street is fully stocked with clothes, household items, toys and games – just in time for the main Christmas shopping season.
Proceeds to caring for animals
All money raised from the shop will go towards caring for animals at the charity’s rehoming and wildlife centre in Godshill.
The charity, which receives no direct finding from the national RSPCA charity, relies on donations and funds raised through its four charity shops, located in Newport, Ventnor, Cowes and Sandown.
The animal charity was forced to move from its previous shop in St James’ Street after it was served notice by the landlord.
Staff worked hard to find an alternative store and have been busy preparing the new shop for its official opening.
RSPCA Isle of Wight Branch Manager, Suzanne Pugh, said,
“It’s been a busy few weeks but thanks to the hard work of our staff and dedicated volunteers we are ready to open the doors to our new store and welcome customers old and new.
“We are also hugely grateful to everyone who has donated items for us to sell, the shop is a key fundraising resource for us, helping us to pay for food, medical costs and shelter for the animals in our care. Thank you to all our supporters.”
The new shop has on-street parking to the front and a paid public car park at the rear, it is also well served by the local bus service.
The shop will be open Monday to Friday between 10am and 4.30pm.
