Reports that Platform One College of Music are the other current bidder for Ryde Town Hall have been dismissed as ‘fake news’ by one of the Platform One Directors.
Ryde Town council (RTC) have been in talks with the owner of Ryde Town Hall for around two years.
Rival bidder
Joe Gladdis recently gave the local council a deadline of end of July to make an offer, stating that a ‘rival bidder’ had shown interest in taking on the premises.
Comments have circulated on social media pointing towards Platform One being the rival bidder, so News OnTheWight went straight to the horse’s mouth.
Pontin: “Fake news I am afraid”
Dave Pontin from Platform One College of Music told News OnTheWight,
“Not true at all. Fake news I am afraid – we have not put in any bid on Ryde Theatre!”
Platform One had been a bidder back in 2011, but the sale fell through after they were “obliged to pull out due to the current financial climate”.
RTC plans
Last night at an extraordinary meeting of Ryde Town council, members voted in favour of buying Ryde Town Hall/Theatre.
A final decision will be made at their full council meeting.
