Residents to bid farewell to derelict site with planned new dwellings

For many years, residents in St Catherine Street in Ventnor have had to look at the derelict site of a former semi-detached dwelling, which had been demolished due to structural failure.

Plans are now open to public consultation to demolish the remaining semi-detached property and replace with a a pair of semi-detached properties at 53 and 55 St Catherine Street.

Pressed by the LPA
The plans follow the local planning authority (LPA) pressing the applicant to come forward with a solution for the site, which it does not wish to see remaining in its current state.

The proposed replacement dwellings will replicate the design, size and appearance of the former pair of dwellings that occupied this site, retaining the original traditional character and form with double hipped roofs and central valley, central chimney stack and main entrances on side elevation

View the plans
You can view the plans on the council’s planning register (24/00497/FUL).

The consultation runs until Monday 20th May 2024.
