Care home providers Somerset Care have lodged a revised planning application to construct a 67 bed care home and ten detached houses, as well as a pair of semi-detached houses in their grounds just off Staplers Road, Newport.
The reapplication, to demolish the existing 37 bedroom home and outbuildings, has attracted opposition from many of the local residents, who cite lack of community consultation, concerns over privacy, over-development of the site, drastic impact to the wildlife and traffic implications as just some of their concerns.
Newport Parish Council planning committee have deferred their decision for a third time due to lack of information unless certain conditions can be applied to the consent.
