The Isle of Wight fire service were called to an intense barn fire yesterday afternoon.
A barn containing 300 bales of hay was reported to be ‘well alight’ following a call to the fire service just before 3pm.
Several pumps and a water carrier attended the fire, which raged for many hours and could be seen from some distance.
Road closed
This morning Island Roads have closed Green Lane from its junction with Ashey Road to its junction with East Ashey Lane.
Urgent works are being carried out to clear the ditches and grips.
Diversion
The diversion will affect East Ashey Lane and Ashey Road.
