B3322 Alum Bay New Road Needles fireworks displays. On each Thursday evening on July 30 and August 6, 13, 20 & 27 August 2015 fireworks extravaganza displays will take place at The Needles Park at Alum Bay. When parking is full at The Needles Park a road closure will be in operation in Alum Bay New Road. If this occurs event goers should then find an alternative location to park, beyond the junction of Alum Bay New Road/Alum Bay Old Road. Access to the Needles Park will be restricted when parking at The Needles Park is full in the interests of public and road safety. This is likely from approximately 7 to 7.30pm until 10pm on each evening, but could be as early as 2 to 2.30pm in the afternoon especially if the weather is good. Sun Hill (outside Four Winds). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation at times between Wednesday 12 August and Friday 14 August 2015 for cable works by British Telecom. Traffic delays will occur.
COWES AND GURNARD AREA: COWES WEEK FESTIVAL:
Various traffic and parking restrictions will be introduced in certain roads between 5.30pm on Saturday 1 August and approx. Wednesday 19 August 2015 in connection with Cowes Week Festival. Cowes Week Festival takes place between Saturday 8 and Saturday 15 August 2015.
No parking will be permitted on The Parade from 5.30pm on Saturday 1 August Wednesday 19 August 2015 due to a tented village and No access to The Parade will be possible from Castle Hill during this period. The Parade, Union Road, Market Hill, Castle Hill, Baring Road, High Street, Bath Road, Queens Road, Castle Road, Sun Hill and Bars Hill will each have restricted access. Deliveries in these roads should be made as far as possible before 10am during Cowes Week. One-way traffic restrictions will be in operation (from Ward between 6am on Friday 7 August and Wednesday 19 August 2015; In Baring Road (traffic will only be permitted to travel in the direction from Ward Avenue to Castle Road), in Castle Hill (traffic will only be permitted to travel in the direction from Castle Road to Queens Road and in Queens Road (traffic will only be permitted to travel in the direction from Castle Hill to Egypt Hill). Additional Parking will be available on the grassed area adjacent to Northwood House (weather permitting) from Friday 7 until Saturday 15 August 2015 and on fireworks night, at Cowes Football Club & at Cowes Community Club (both off Park Road).
COWES WEEK BUS & TAXI ARRANGEMENTS:
Buses: On each night Sundays to Thursdays (Monday to Friday Mornings) the last bus from Cowes to Newport will be at 12.46am. On Friday and Saturday nights (Saturday and Sunday mornings) the last bus will operate from Cowes to Newport at just after 3am. Duplicate buses will run if required. Taxis: From Friday 7 August until Sunday 15 August 2015, In the interest of safety the lower section of Terminus Road will be closed from Carvel Lane to the High Street and the High Street will also be closed between approx. 7pm and 3am on each night/ morning. Please note: There will be no access to Town Quay (Red Funnel Terminal) taxi rank and the High Street (except in an emergency) whilst these closures are in operation. The taxi rank outside the Co-op will operate as usual but for only 3 vehicles at one time with a holding area in Terminus Road outside the dentist. In the evenings throughout the week, a temporary taxi rank will also be provided in Birmingham Road outside the Golden Dragon / Cowes Methodist Church to prevent people having to go back through the town to get a taxi if they are in premises outside of the High Street. On fireworks night an additional taxi rank will be in operation in Park Road. This will be located on the northwest side of the road on the War Avenue side of the entrance to Park Road Car Park.
COWES WEEK FIREWORKS NIGHT – FRI 14 AUGUST 2015:
COWES, GURNARD & EAST COWES EVENT DETAILS/CLOSURES PARKING & TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS
On Friday 14 August 2015 (Cowes Week Fireworks night), additional traffic and waiting restrictions will be introduced. The restrictions will be in operation from the afternoon / evening on Thursday 13 August 2015. Some restrictions will be removed early on the morning on Saturday 15 August and others on Sunday 16 August 2015. THE PARADE will be closed to vehicles from 5pm on Friday 14 August until the early hours on Saturday 15 August 2015 in the interests of pedestrian safety. Also Terminus Road, High Street, Bath Road, Carvel Lane, Union Road, Church Road, Market Hill, Sun Hill, Lower Baring Road, Castle Hill, Castle Road and Bars Hill will be closed from 6pm until at least 1am on Saturday 15 August 2015. Vehicular access to Fountain Quay (Red Funnel terminal) will not be possible from 3.30pm on Friday 8 until approx. 3am on Saturday 15 August 2015. Temporary taxi ranks will be provided in Birmingham Road and in Park Road, which will be located on the northwest side of the road on the War Avenue side of the entrance to Park Road Car Park. Southern Vectis will be operating additional bus services from Newport to Cowes before & after the display. The services will operate to & from Carvel Lane. Terminus Road will be closed from 6pm until at least 1am to allow for this. The Cowes Week Fireworks Display is due to take place from 9.30pm and the main viewing points for the display are Cowes Parade / Esplanade, the Cowes to Gurnard Seafront and East Cowes Esplanade area. Traffic diversions will be required due to the high amount of traffic leaving Cowes, Gurnard and East Cowes area after the fireworks. Some traffic will be diverted via Rew Street, Whitehouse Road, Vittlesfield Cross and A3054 Forest Road. Details will be clearly signposted. Considerable delays will occur during this time.
EAST COWES:
Esplanade will be closed from 2.30pm on Friday 25 April 2014 for the foreseeable future between 375 metres to the northeast of Cambridge Road and the end of the highway 860 metres to the northeast of Cambridge Road. There is no alternative route for traffic. This closure is necessary to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road due to a landslip. FRESHWATER:
A3055 Afton Road (opposite existing Co-op Store, approx. 100metres from School Green Road Roundabout) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation when required from 9am on Tuesday 7 April until approx. LAKE:
Ranalagh Road / Cliff Road / Cliff Path. From 1200hrs on Friday 18 July 2014 for the foreseeable future the following roads / path will be closed to vehicular traffic: Cliff Road / Cliff Path will be closed from point 55 metres to the northwest of the junction with Ranalagh Road to point 185 metres to the south west of the junction with Cliff Gardens (the southern boundary of number 6). Ranalagh Road will also be closed from Cliff Road to a point 10 metres to the west of Cliff Road. During the period of closure there is no alternative route for vehicles. NEWPORT:
Mill Street will be closed from 9am on Monday 30 March until approx. 6pm on Friday 14 August 2015 between Old Westminster Lane and the end of the highway 35 metres to the Northwest. The closure is necessary for highway development works including the construction of a new junction onto Foxes Road by Aeropark Developments for Barrett Homes. There is no diversion route for traffic, however vehicular access will be maintained as far as possible.
Public Footpath N120 will be closed to pedestrians from 6am on Friday 6 March until 6am on Sunday 6 September 015 between; A point 474 metres north to a point 516 metres north of the northern boundary of Seaclose Recreation Ground and a point 585 metres north to a point 607 metres north of the northern boundary of Seaclose Recreation Ground. The diversion route for pedestrians is through adjacent woodland at each location. Local path closures are required in the interests of pedestrian safety whilst footbridges are closed at the Footbridge B319 at South Fairlee Farm and the Footbridge B318 at The Roundhouse. RYDE:
The Strand will be closed between East Street and West Hill Road from 9am on Friday 21 November 2014 until Friday 21 August 2015. The closure is for a Sewer Flood Alleviation Scheme to upsize the existing sewer pipeline. The diversion route will be; West Street, Dover Street and Esplanade. Works are due to start near to the junction with West Hill Road. Temporary traffic lights will be in operation when necessary from Monday 17 November 2014 until the end of the scheme. Some traffic delays will occur.
Simeon Street will be closed from 9am on Monday 9 March until 4pm on Friday 25 September 2015 between The Strand and Monkton Street. The diversion route will be: The Strand and Monkton Street. The closure is for a sewer flood alleviation scheme to upsize a sewer pipeline. Access to premises and businesses will be maintained from one end of the road as far as possible during the works.
Alexandra Road / St Johns Hill / St Johns Road, will be closed from 7.30pm until 6am on each night (Mondays to Fridays) between Friday 7 August and Thursday 20 August 2015 between A3055 Appley Road and High Street. The closure is for carriageway and footway repairs, resurfacing, drainage, kerbing and verge works by Island Roads. The alternative route for traffic will be; A3055 East Hill Road, Esplanade , George Street and Cross Street, A3054 St Thomas Square, High Street, Garfield Road, Victoria Street and John Street, West Street and Green Street. Lind Hill / Crown Street will be closed from 9am on Monday 3 August 2015 until approx. 4pm on Friday 4 September 2015 between Lind Street and the end of the surfaced highway 35 metres to the south and 30 metres to the east. There is no alternative route for traffic; however emergency vehicle access will be maintained. The closure is for sewer connection works including the construction of new manholes by Dial A Rod Engineering Services.
Spencer Road (outside 45 to 58) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 8am on Monday 27 July until approx. 4.30pm on Friday 4 September 2015 for gas main replacement works by Southern Gas Networks. Some traffic delays will occur.

ST LAWRENCE:
A3055 Undercliff Drive will remain closed from St Catherine’s Road to Seven Sisters Road (Western Junction), between Barrington Lodge, near to the western junction with Seven Sisters Road and Mirables which is located about a mile towards Niton. Following significant ground movement in the area in early February 2014, Undercliff Drive has been physically closed between Mirables (in the west) and a point 560 metres to the West of Seven Sisters Road (in the east) for safety reasons. There is now no access for vehicles or pedestrians.
A formal road and footpath closure will be in operation for the foreseeable future.
Access to businesses and attractions in Undercliff Drive will be maintained. During the period of closure the alternative route for traffic will be; Pedestrians; A3055 Undercliff Drive, Public Footpath V81, V77, NT28, NT29, NT30 and A3055 Undercliff Drive.
