Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from Friday 3 January 2014 for the foreseeable future until carriageway repair works have been undertaken (as a result of recent excessive rain). Some traffic delays will occur.
CARISBROOKE:
B3323 High Street (outside 24 and 24c) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Tuesday 4 March until 4pm on Friday 7 March 2014 for the installation of a new service by Southern Gas Networks. Traffic delays will occur.
COWES:
Brunswick Road will be closed from 8am on Wednesday 26 February until 5pm on Friday 28 February 2014 between Langley Road and a point 70 metres to the southeast (at the exit from Brunswick Road car park). The closure is required for the installation of a new gas service outside number 4 by Southern Gas Networks. The alternative route for traffic will be: Brunswick Road, Langley Road, Medina Road and Bridge Road. The one way restriction in Brunswick Road (from Bridge Road to Langley Terrace will be temporarily suspended to allow access during the works).

High Street / Shooters Hill will be closed from Terminus Road (also known as Railway Street) to Cross Street between 10am on Saturday 15 February and 4pm on Monday 24 February 2014 due to urgent electric cable repair works by Scottish & Southern Energy.
Diversion Route: Terminus Road, Granville Road, Granville Bridge Road, Gordon Road and Beckford Road.

FRESHWATER:
Cameron Close will be closed to vehicular traffic from 7am on Monday 18 November 2013 until 7am on Monday 18th May 2015 between the northern boundary of number 2 (45 metres north of the junction with Camp Road) and the end of the surfaced highway (110 metres to the northeast of Camp Road). The closure is required for the demolition of existing buildings and construction of a new development by Stoneham Construction Ltd. There is no alternative route for vehicular traffic. The public footpath between Cameron Close and Jubilee Close will be also closed to pedestrians from 7am on Monday 18th November 2013 until 7am on Sunday 18th May 2014 from the end of the surfaced highway in Cameron Close (105 metres to the north east of Camp Road) to the end of the surfaced highway in Jubilee Close (110 metres to the northwest of Camp Road) for the same reason. There is no alternative route for pedestrians.
Queens Road (outside East Wold) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 8am on Wednesday 12 February until 4.30pm on Friday 14 February 2014 for the installation of a new service by Southern Gas Networks. Traffic delays will occur.
GURNARD:
Albert Road will be closed from 10am on Monday 10 February until 4pm on Wednesday 19 February 2014 between Worlsey Road and Solent View Road for urgent sewer repair works by Clancy Docwra for Southern Water. The works are located outside number 27. The alternative route for traffic will be; Worsley Road and Solent View Road.
LAKE:
Cliff Road / Cliff Path will be closed from 7pm on Sunday 5 January for foreseeable future between a point 30 metre to the North of Ranelagh Road to a point 95 metres to the South of Ranalegh Road (outside of number 6). During the period of closure the alternative route for traffic will be; Ranelagh Road, Currie Road and Cliff Road and Brinkcliff Gardens (located off Araluen Way). The closure is required due to land movement.
Pedestrian access will be maintained as usual.
A3055 Sandown Road junction with A3056 Newport Road. Temporary traffic control will be in operation from 9am until 4pm on Monday 17 February, Tuesday 18 February and Wednesday 19 February 2014 for cable works by CCN Communications for British Telecom.
Traffic delays will occur.
NEWCHURCH:
Knighton Shute / Knighton Lane will be closed from Mersley Down Road to Mersley Lane will be closed between 2pm on Saturday 8 February until approx. Tuesday 11 March 2014. The closure is required until urgent carriageway repairs and resurfacing works have been undertaken by Island Roads.
The alternative route for traffic will be; Mersley Down Road, Downend Road, A3056 Arreton Street and Hale Common, Watery Lane,Winford Road, High Street, The Shute and Langbridge.
High Street (junction with Palmers Lane and Winford Road) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Monday 24 February until 4.30pm on Friday 28 February 2014 for the installation of a new service by Southern Gas Networks. Traffic delays will occur.
Skinners Hill / Palmers Lane will be closed from 6.30am on Tuesday 18 February until 6pm on Wednesday 19 February 2014 between Alverstone Road and Winford Road. The closure is required for carriageway and footway repairs, resurfacing, drainage works, verge maintenance and kerbing by Island Roads. The alternative route for traffic will be; Alverstone Road, Forest Road and Winford Road
NEWPORT:
A3054 Fairlee Road (approx. 300 metres East of Fairlee Farm (towards Racecourse). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9.30am until 3pm on Tuesday 25 February and if necessary Wednesday 26 February for gully cleaning and survey works by Island Roads.
Whitehouse Road will be closed between 6.30am and 6pm (Mondays to Fridays) from Tuesday 4 February until approx. Friday 21 February 2014. The closure is required for carriageway resurfacing works by Island Roads. The diversion route will be: A3054 Forest Road and Yarmouth Road, Corf Road, White Oak Lane and Locks Green Road.
THE ROAD IS CLOSED 24HOURS A DAY AT PRESENT.
Church Litten. From 9am on Monday 10 February until 4pm on Friday 28 February 2014, a lane restriction will be in operation on the western side of the carriageway in Church Litten between Litten Park superstores entrance and ‘Church Litten Gate’.
The lane restiction is required to allow the buses on a local bus service to operate from Church Litten whilst carriageway repair works are undertaken in part of Newport Bus Station.
RYDE:
Castle Street will be closed from 8am on Wednesday 8 January until 5pm on Friday 21 February 2014 between George Street and Union Street. The one way restriction will be temporarily suspended to allow access to premises and businesses during the weeks.
The diversion route will be: Union Road, Cross Street, Union Street, Esplanade and George Street. The closure is required for gas main replacement works.
B3330 St Johns Hill (from St Johns Road Railway Bridge, Moreys Timber Store to School Street). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Monday 6 January until approx. 4pm on Friday 28 February 2013 for the renewal of the water main & services by Clancy Docwra for Southern Water.
B3330 /A3055 Appley Road (various locations from near Thornton Close to junction with A3055 Marlborough Road mini roundabout). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation between 9.30am until 3.30pm on each day between Monday 10 February and Tuesday 18 February 2014 for cable works by A/plant for British Telecom. Traffic delays will occur.
B3330 Appley Road (junction with Marina Avenue). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9.30am until 3.30pm on Thursday 20 February, for tree cutting works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.
SANDOWN:
Pier Street (from 1 to 16). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Monday 17 February until approx. 4pm on Friday 28 February 2014 for the installation of new electric low voltage main by Scottish & Southern Energy. Traffic delays will occur.
A3055 Avenue Road/ Morton Common will be closed from 6.30pm until 6am on approximately 5 nights during the period between Thursday 23 January and Tuesday 18 February 2014 (weather permitting) from Broadway to Morton Old Road. The closure is required for carriageway resurfacing works between Broadway and a point 100 metres northeast of Perowne Way by Island Roads. The diversion route will be: A3055 Broadway, Lake Hill and Sandown Road, A3056 Newport Road, Hale Common and Arreton Street, Downend Road, Mersley Down Road, Brading Down Road, Bullys Hill, The Mall and Hornsey Rise and Morton Road.
SHANKLIN:
A3020 Victoria Avenue (at junction with Highfield Road). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Monday 3 February until approx. 5pm on Friday 14 February 2014 for the installation of new electric connections by Scottish & Southern Energy.

Palmerston Road will be closed from 9am on Monday 10 February until 4pm on Friday 14 March 2014 between Park Road and Eastcliff Promenade. The closure is required for sewer flood alleviation works by Clancy Docwra on behalf of Southern Water. The diversion route will be: Palmerston Road, Queens Road, Osborne Road and Eastcliff Promenade.
A3055 Arthurs Hill (outside 30, Burcroft near junction with St Martins Avenue) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Monday 17 February until 4pm on Friday 21 February 2014 for the installation of a new service by Southern Gas Networks. Traffic delays will occur.
ST LAWRENCE:
A3055 Undercliff Drive will be closed from St Catherine’s Road to Seven Sisters Road (Western Junction), between 9am on Monday 4 November until Wednesday 30 April 2014 for carriageway stabilisation and repair works between Barrington Lodge, near to the western junction with Seven Sisters Road and Mirables which is located about a mile towards Niton, by Island Roads.
Geotechnical works to strengthen the road at the Undercliff, in the Niton / St Lawrence area is one of the first of 18 geotechnical schemes to maintain the road network being undertaken by Island Roads as part of the Highways PFI.
In this area underlying clay foundations have caused frequent ground movement. Geotechnical work will be undertaken in three areas; In the vicinity of Undercliff Caravan Park and a property called Woodlands, the highway will be anchored by 25-metre steel cables driven through the clay strata into a more substantial layer of rock.
At a location above Hunts Road, more than 100 ten-metre concrete piles will be drilled into the rock to strengthen the highway
DIVERSION ROUTE: A3055 Undercliff Drive, Barrack Shute, Institute Hill, New Road, Starr Inn Road and Church Street, Rectory Road, Chatfield Road, Kemming Road, High Street (Whitwell), Ventnor RD, Whitwell Road, Gills Cliff Road, Castle Road, A3055 Steephill Road and Undercliff Drive.
A3055 Undercliff Drive is now closed to pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders from 12pm (noon) on Saturday 15 February 2014 for the foreseeable future between a point 560 metres west to, the access road to Mirables, 1260 metres west of the western junction of Seven Sisters Road with A3055 Undercliff Drive, St Lawrence.
During the period of closure the alternative route for traffic will be;
Pedestrians; A3055 Undercliff Drive, Public Footpath V81, V77, N28, N29, N30 and A3055 Undercliff Drive.

SHORWELL:
B3399 Limerstone Road (near to West Court Farm). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am until 4pm on Tuesday 18 February 2013 for carriageway repair works by Clancy Docwra for Southern Water.
VENTNOR:
B3327 Ocean View Road (junction with Gills Cliff Road and Newport Road)
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Monday 3 march until 4.30pm on Monday 31 March 2014 for gas main replacement works by Southern Gas Networks. Traffic delays will occur.
Rew Lane will be closed from 9am on Monday 6 January until approx. Friday 7 March 2014 between B3327 Clarence Road to a point 170 metres southwest of the junction with Mountfield Road (at the end of West Street). During the period of closure the alternative route for traffic will be; B3327 Clarence Road and High Street (Wroxall) and West Street.
The closure is required until carriageway repair works have been undertaken.
Bath Road. A one way restriction will be in operation from La Falaise car Park to Belgrave Road between 9am on Tuesday 29 October until approx. 9am on Monday 19 May 2014 due to the reduction in road for the protection to masonry at retaining wall R1074 above a property called Seacourt. DIVERSION ROUTE: Belgrave Road, Zig Zag Road, Alpine Road, Church Street, Hambrough Road, Shore Hill, Esplanade and Bath Road.
WHIPPINGHAM:
A3054 Racecourse (various locations from Racecourse Roundabout to Fairlee Road at bend at Binfield Corner).Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9.30am until 4pm on Thursday 27 February, Friday 28 February and Monday 3 March 2014 for the replacement of Streetlights & lanterns by Island Roads. YARMOUTH:
A3054 Halletts Shute (outside Buddles Butt). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Monday 10 February until 5pm on Friday 14 February 2014 for the installation of a new service by Southern Gas Networks. Traffic delays will occur.
A3054 Tennyson Road / Bouldnor Road between The Common and The Viewpoint Car Park. A scheme to strengthen an unstable stretches of the A3054 highway started in November 2013 and should be completed by the end of April 2014. The project at Bouldnor Road is one of 18 geotechnical schemes to maintain the road network being undertaken by Island Roads as part of the Highways PFI. The work will involve strengthening a 700-metre stretch of the highway between the Viewpoint Car Park and Yarmouth Green. 650 steel sheet piles will be driven up to 16 metres into the ground, a process called ‘soil nailing’ will also be used to stabilise the highway at the Yarmouth end of the scheme. Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 8am on Monday 4 November 2013 until 5pm on Monday 31 March 2014 at various locations between The Common and The Viewpoint Car Park. Traffic delays will occur.
Vehicles over 6ft 6in in width are advised to use an alternative route during the next few weeks due to the narrow road width.
A temporary clearway order to prevent vehicles from stopping on the carriageway, footway, verges and any lay-bys will be in operation in A3054 Bouldnor Road from a point 460 metres to the North East of Thorley Road junction to a point 160 metres to the West of Thorley Road junction and in B3401 Thorley Road from the junction with A3054 Bouldnor Road to a point 120 metres to the South East. This Order is required in the interests of road safety whilst carriageway stabilisation and repair works are undertaken.
The order will be operation from 8am on Monday 4 November 2013 until 6pm on Wednesday 30 April 2014.
