Rob da Bank Visits Downing Street (Podcast)

Rob da Bank Goes To Downing Street (Podcast)Bestival head honcho and Radio One DJ, Rob da Bank could be found enjoying the delights in the garden of 10 Downing Street yesterday.

We had a chat with Rob this afternoon to find out why he was living the high life (podcast below).

At the reception hosted by the Prime Minister’s wife Sarah Brown, Rob and his wife, Josie, joined around 100 others from the music industry to meet with the new Culture minister Ben Bradshaw.

Rob told VB that he’d been invited along by UK Music, an organisation that represents the collective interests of the UK’s commercial music industry, headed up by Feargal Sharkey.

Rob and Josie were sharing canapes with the likes of Jazzie B, Nitin Sawhney and Cat Stevens as well as record label big wigs and other Government ministers.

He learnt that Ben Bradshaw is a big fan of Massive Attack who are of course headlining this year at Bestival, so we can probably expect to see this ‘cool minister’ squeezed in with the other fans at the front of the audience on the Friday night.

Rob went to tell us that the get together gave him an insight into how politics works and how UK Music can benefit.

Check out the podcast to hear what else he had to say and how the toilets faired in his Bog Watch project.

For the fun of it, we decided to record the interview under water, so do make allowances for the dodgy sound quality (not really, the phone recording system let us down – hope to have it sorted next time) [audio:http://otw-audio.s3.amazonaws.com/rob-da-bank-downing-street-with-bumpers.mp3]
