Following on from the successful VentnorBlog Presents … held at the Bonchurch Manor Hotel in February this year, we’re pleased to hear that the walls of the hotel are once again adorned with Island art.
The Rostrum 4, made up by Annik Cullinane, Judes Crow, Mary Flynn and Gerry Price met through The Isle of Wight Open Studios event last year and have worked together since then to promote their professional practice as individual artists and as a group.
A statement from the group tells us that
All four artists respond to their environment painting land and seascapes, people and places, and making sculptures from found objects.
They use wood, paint, metal and fabrics to create narrative, abstract and figurative pieces. They all speak of remaking and transforming, of reinventing experiences, of creating stories and of intuition and reflection.
As individual artists they have exhibited at Quay Arts in Newport, Southampton City Art Gallery, The Old Studio in Ventnor, Dartington Gallery, Surface Gallery in Nottingham and many other venues.
To find out more about the Bonchrch Manor Hotel, visit their Web site.
You’ll also find directions on there to the venue which is situated in Bonchurch Shute, Bonchurch, two doors up from the Bonchurch Inn.
Public viewing of the artwork can take place between 4-6pm each day.
