A new book of travel stories by Cowes author, Julie Watson, will shortly reach a bookshop near you.
Travel Takeaways: Around the World in Forty Tales is Julie’s second book and recounts a lifetime of diverse travel experiences ranging from the quirky, the poignant, to the downright scary.
Stories include her first experience of waitressing in the French Alps as an unworldly eighteen-year-old; a face-to-face encounter with an orangutan in the rainforest of Borneo; and tea with an oracle-speaking Turkish carpet seller.
A story for every reader to enjoy
Julie told News OnTheWight,
“I wrote the book during my retirement and the travel memories it contains span decades and many countries.
“I hope there’s a story for every reader to enjoy.”
Owen: It’s impossible not to be hooked
Joanne Owen, Rough Guide writer and Editorial Expert, reviewed the book for LoveReading.co.uk:
“…the author’s voice rings with authenticity as she evokes places, people and atmosphere in exhilarating detail.
“With each tale opening with an arresting image, or stop-you-in-your-track dialogue that transports readers to a place or situation … it’s impossible not to be hooked.”
Exclusive launch at Waterstones
Published by Beachy Books, it will receive an exclusive launch at Waterstones, Newport, on Saturday 1st April from 11am, at which Julie will be signing copies of her book.
Travel Takeaways is available as print or e-book from a range of other book retailers and outlets.
