“Run the buses for the people,” says Kollective

Update: Please read the following in the context of this

Run the buses for the people, say KollectiveThe Joint Orchestrated Kollective Engineers have got in touch this morning to let us know that they’re launching a scheme for Islanders to take over Southern Vectis and run the bus service at cost for Islanders.

Their spokesman, Un L. Ikely, told VB, “Island residents are fed up with having to pay so much to travel on the bus around this beautiful Island. By us coming together, we can run the bus service for the benefit of the people.”

The Kollective tell us that their proposal is that Islanders put £100 each in to the pot, building a fund of £13 million pounds. Mr Ikley expanded on this, “we know that there a large variation in income levels on the Island, so are suggesting that those who are more comfortable put in more money to even things out.”

The £13 million fund would be used to buy out Southern Vectis, so they can have a rest, put their feet up and have a cup of tea.

The Kollective are keen to find out the thoughts of Islanders to their proposal.

A very special place indeed. Went to a party there once, was fantastic location. Glad to see that it’s being looked after.

This is great news! It would be sad to see the Island lose any more of our historic piers.

This is great news. Our holiday cottage is just up the lane from the pier. Although the pier is currently a lovely place full of character and great for a coffee and ice cream after time on the beach, the plans for the replacement structures look fantastic.

Can anyone tell me what is happening with this so-called restoration? I went there today expecting to see a new pier nearing completion, but it seems nothing has been done.

Last I heard there were delays with the planning department.

Not much has been happening for a long time. I emailed Bell-Cornwell and was told in April that latice supports had been made and were away being galvanized and that work would commence again shortly. Also that the cafe would be finished by November. Yesterday 5th June 2012 I email Bell-Cornwell again twice and both times they came back unknown. Has anyone any news?
