Staff at Victoria House care home in Ryde are celebrating after their latest CQC inspection was rewarded with a rating of ‘Good’ in all areas.
Victoria House is a residential care home providing personal care to 20 people aged 65 and over. This was the first inspection under the new ownership
“Happy and safe”
People living there told the CQC inspector that they “were happy and felt safe living at Victoria House”. Residents also said they felt staff were caring, something that was confirmed by family members.
Inspectors say they saw the staff treat residents with kindness and compassion.

Other findings included:
- Staff were recruited safely, and sufficient numbers were employed to ensure people’s care and social needs were met. Staff had received appropriate training and support to enable them to carry out their role effectively
- People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice
- Staff knew how to keep people safe from harm. Infection prevention and control measures were in place and followed by staff. People received their medicines safely and as prescribed
- Residents and staff were positive about the management, who were described as approachable and supportive
