A very positive experience to concentrate on this project during Lockdown
Created in the 2020 Covid Lockdown and measuring 4ft by 5ft 6″ – complete with oak frame – Nick says about the work,
“I wanted to make an idealised image of the view from Ryde across the busy Solent to Portsmouth, not actually possible with a photograph.
“I studied Early 20th century Railway posters and was always fascinated by their clear views and their ability to capture sunlight.
“It was a very positive experience to concentrate on this project during Lockdown which allowed me nine months to spend on one piece of work.”
On tour
Having sold out of 200 limited edition prints from the artwork at Ryde Framers and Gallery since the first Lockdown, the popular image has been exhibited at several venues including Quay Arts, Island Line’s Esplanade Station and since June at Hovertravel in the waiting room.
Other work
Nick currently works at Quay Arts in Newport and in his home-studio on the Isle of Wight.
He recently sold a similar collage of this Edinburgh city scape 8ft x4ft to Baillie Gifford Investment company for £22,000.
