They’ve been away for three years, but later this month, Isle of Wight music promoters Real Live return to The Venue, with none other than with Sam Brown
Those of a certain age will remember the husky vocals of Sam and the video below should bring back some memories.
Over the years she has filled the role of lead vocalist with Jools Holland’s R’n’B Orchestra, as well as being lead backing vocalist on Pink Floyd’s last two world tours.
Her ‘Very Best Of’ album was released recently and she has been working on a new studio album which is due out soon. This will be first time on the road in nearly two years with her one woman show. Just herself; her piano, ukulele and bass guitar creating a charming, revealing and highly charged atmosphere with a mix of old, recent and brand new songs.
Island musician, Staff Brett will be providing support. Staff recently released his third solo album ‘Sunseeker’ to notable critical acclaim. Details on Staff’s Concert for the Cat coming up on VB shortly.
“Sam’s last solo performance on the Isle of Wight sold out in advance and a lot of people who had left it to the eleventh hour were disappointed so I would advise booking relatively early particularly as there are no Southampton or Portsmouth shows” said organizer Jon Mortimer. ‘We felt if we were going to do this again on the Isle of Wight we better make it good – with Sam and Staff I know it will be.”
Customers should specify balcony tickets if they wish to guarantee seating as ground level has limited seating available on a first come, first serve basis – with exception for persons with disabilities.
