Sandown Bay Academy celebrating ‘excellent ‘A level results with 100% pass rate

Students at Sandown Bay Academy are celebrating today, following the release of excellent examination results with 100% pass rate in 44 courses.

Exceptional results have been achieved in some of the most demanding of A-Level subjects.

Daisy Blake achieved A* in Maths, and three As in Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics. She will be reading either Physics and Theoretical Physics or Mathematics at a prestigious Russell Group university. Will Ford will be attending Royal Holloway, University of London, having achieved A in History, English Literature and the Extended Project Qualification, as well as B in Sociology. Lauren Sparrow goes on to read Law at the University of Surrey, having achieved A in Law and Business Studies, as well as B in Sociology.

Daisy Blake (aged 18) said,

“The support and guidance I got from the Sixth Form team when applying for Oxford and Imperial Universities has been excellent. As part of the Medrox group I was encouraged to take part in two Summer Schools which supported my applications to top universities.”

Will Ford (aged 18) said,

“I am delighted with my results and very thankful for all the support I have had whilst at Sixth Form; the teachers will go to the moon and back to help you.”

The Academy continues to demonstrate clear strengths in Sports and Performing Arts. Hannah Sturrock achieved 3 Distinction* in Performing Arts and Dance, she is off to The Brighton Academy to study a three year Professional Diploma Course in Musical Theatre. Chloe Bird achieved a double Distinction* in Sports Studies and a Distinction* in Performing Arts.

Chloe Bird (aged 18) said

“I am grateful for the endless opportunities I have been provided with while studying at Sandown; I am also grateful for the guidance I have received, particularly when applying for university. My ambition is to become a Primary School teacher and I am looking forward to studying Childhood and Youth Studies at Portsmouth University.”

Five students achieved Triple Distinction* in Sports Studies: Alice Moseley, Ben Mills, Stephanie Smith, Saffron Floyd and Rebekah Gregory. Alice, Ben and Saffron are off to Chichester University, with Ben and Saffron studying PE and Sports Coaching and Alice studying Sports Studies with teaching. Stephanie is off to Winchester University to study Psychology and Child Development and Rebekah is off to study for a Masters in Chiropractic at BPP University in Oxfordshire.

The Academy continues to demonstrate strong provision for students in an impressive range of courses, with no fewer than 44 courses securing a 100% pass rate this year, 18 of those achieving an average grade of a B or higher.

“We are delighted to see that the trend of excellent achievement at Sixth Form continues, as noted in our most recent Ofsted report. We are incredibly proud of our students who have achieved exceptionally well across the range of subjects studied. We congratulate them as they celebrate these excellent results. Their success is the result of a great deal of hard work on their part, as well as phenomenal support from staff and parents.”
