Thanks to eagle-eyed VB reader (and former work experience student) Kyle Newton for sending through information and photos last night about a fire in Sandown.
He told us that residents at Sandham House had to be evacuated at around 7pm due to a kitchen fire in one of the flats.
We understand that although the smoke spread quickly through the property, no-one was injured or needed medical attention.
The fire, which was believed to have been caused by a microwave, was contained in the kitchen on the top floor and two fire engines and one police car were on scene.
