Earlier in the week we reported on the sad death of a Ventnor icon, 102 year old Nora Hill.
The funeral is taking place on Monday afternoon and as we mentioned before, Nora will be doing her last rounds of Ventnor in a horse drawn hearse, the first to go through town for 126 years.
The procession starts at Trinity Church at 1.15pm and travels down Victoria St, Albert St, Pier St, High St and back around the Ventnor roundabout to Victoria St, Albert St, Pier St then left into Church St. (update due to problems with road surfaces the route has changed to starting from Flowersbrook, down Alpine Rd to the church, then around the town back ending at St. Catherine’s church for the funeral service at 1.45pm.
Organised by her friends
Nora grew up an orphan, so had no family, but has close friends who took care of her have organised the funeral.
The ‘little lady with the dog’ made a lasting impression on everyone she met, so it would be wonderful if as many people as possible could pay their last respects on Monday.
If you’re not able to stay for the funeral, do try to come to wave goodbye as the horse-drawn hearse travels through town.
