This coming Friday (7th February 2025) in a heartfelt show of solidarity, schools and organisations across the Isle of Wight will participate in a special MUFTI day to support 16-year-old Arlo Lambie, who has been bravely battling an aggressive grade 4 brain tumour.
The initiative was inspired by Arlo’s friend, 15-year-old Taylor Willows, who expressed his desire to help.
“Arlo is a family friend, and I couldn’t stop thinking about wanting to help him, and for people our age to do something.
“My mates were donating their own money, but it didn’t feel enough. So I thought about a MUFTI day at my school, and then I thought it would be amazing for all schools to stand with Arlo and show that even though we are young, we can help too.
“Arlo is the nicest guy; he deserves our help. I hope this day fills him with a smile.”
How to take part
Schools throughout the Isle of Wight are encouraged to join in this initiative by allowing students to wear their favourite outfits, whether it be a beloved band T-shirt, sports jersey, comfies or anything else that brings them joy.
Donations collected on the day will go directly to Arlo’s family to assist with medical expenses, treatments not available on the NHS and other needs during this challenging time.
Fundraising for vital treatment
This event not only demonstrates the strength of the Isle of Wight community but also highlights the compassion and kindness of the young people here.
To date the Island community has donated to their cause getting them £71,000 which will support treatments available outside the NHS, for an estimated six months.
There is still more to raise.
