Anyone with kids in the education system on the Island should be aware that the public consultation period for the Council’s latest proposals starts next Monday.
With our offspring at a primary school, we’re very concerned about the suggestion that some of the primary schools are earmarked for closure.
It’s amazing. Does the council not realise that it’s exactly the small primary schools, who on the whole, have above National average results, that bring people to the Island?
For most villages, the primary school is their life blood and the closures would leave a huge void. If the Council don’t want people to move to the Island, this is a great way to stop the flow.
Starting next week, there’ll be town public meetings around the Island at which the proposals will be presented.
We’re interested to hear what you think. Do you agree with us or do you have a differing opinion?
