Anyone who has kids in full time education on the Island might be interested to hear that a public meeting has been arranged by a number of teachers unions, including the NUT and NASUWT, for tomorrow evening in Newport
The Unions (and a huge majority of parents) are concerned about the schools shake up proposals to transfer year nine to middle schools and close at least one high school on the Island. The meeting is being held at St. George’s Park in Newport from 6.30pm on Wednesday evening.
It has been interesting to hear on IW Radio that a similar scheme, in place in Leicester, has been neither popular or successful.
It’s also worrying to hear that many teachers on the Island have said that they would resign and leave if the plans go through.
