Thanks to Hannah for this update from St Catherine’s and well done to Tracy for taking part in the Great North Run to raise money for the charity. Ed
On Sunday 16th September, St Catherine’s Tracy Merryweather took part in the Great North Run with the support of Scottish and Southern Energy.
Tracy, a member of the school’s care staff, chose to take part in the Great North Run to raise money for St Catherine’s. The money raised from sponsorship will support the learners who have speech, language and communication needs.
Supported by energy company
Tracy’s participation in the Great North Run has been supported by Scottish and Southern Energy thanks to their community volunteering project, Community at Heart.
The project was launched in April 2010 to support initiatives within the communities in which SSE employees live and work.
Tracy’s husband, Project Manager at Scottish and Southern Energy, took part in the Community at Heart scheme and accompanied Tracy to and from the run in Newcastle. SSE kindly paid for all travel costs as well as providing an SSE vehicle to transport Tracy to and from the race.
“It went by very quickly”
Tracy said, “I am happy with my run time. I enjoyed the race and it went by very quickly! Thank you to everyone who has sponsored me and to Scottish and Southern Energy who have supported me in my fundraising efforts.”
Tracey is hoping to raise over £300 for St Catherine’s. To help her reach her target please visit her Just Giving page.
