Many thanks to Evelyn Knowles from the Ventnor Enhancement Fund for sending through a report of the official opening of Sea Breeze Park on Saturday afternoon. Ed
A beautiful day, a crowd of children and parents and a mayor and a magician all made the official opening of Ventnor’s Sea Breeze Park on the 1st of May a memorable occasion.
Words of welcome and a few brief speeches before seven year old Mia Basile cut the red tape (with a little help from her friends).
A few turns on the swings and climbing frame then, like the Pied Piper, Randini led everyone down to the Winter Garden for a fairly chaotic tea and goooey cakes.
A lovely afternoon with an hilarious performance for everyone by Randini.
Community effort
Ventnor Enhancement Fund thank everyone for attending and making it such fun and a special thanks to all who have supported this project over the years.
Yes, the bulk of the funding came through the government’s PlayBuilder scheme, but the ideas, the planning, the enthusiasm, the continuing support came from volunteers in Ventnor – projects like these don’t happen without a committed group of people behind the scenes.
Lack of council recognition for volunteers
We were disappointed to find that the IW Council sign did not recognise this, so we have added one of our own.
Thanks everyone.
