Cowes Harbour Commission (CHC) is proud to announce its sponsorship of the ‘Marine Apprentice of the Year’ award in association with the Isle of Wight College.
This prestigious award recognises outstanding dedication and achievement in the marine industry and was presented at a special ceremony which took place at The Royal Yacht Squadron on Thursday, 13th February 2025.
Exceptional determination and commitment
This year’s award recipient is Seb Norsworthy, who has demonstrated exceptional determination and commitment in completing his Marine Engineering apprenticeship.
Seb has made history as the first Isle of Wight College apprentice to pass the Marine Engineering standard, marking a significant milestone for both his career and the College’s apprenticeship programme.
Inspiring dedication
Gary Hall, CEO of Cowes Harbour Commission, commented,

Recognition of hard work and perseverance
The award was presented to Seb Norsworthy by Cowes Harbour Master, Capt. Jon Kidd, who stated,
“It is a privilege to present this award to Seb in recognition of his hard work and perseverance.
“His success highlights the strength of marine training on the Isle of Wight and the bright future ahead for young apprentices in the industry.”

Parker: A great honour for our apprentices
Ros Parker, CEO of The Isle of Wight College, commented,
