The demolition of the former Savoy Hotel in Sandown is now well underway. Work started over the summer to take down the building that was severely damaged by fire back in December 2011.
Back in January, planning permission was granted to demolish the building and replace it with 19 flats. However, the permission came with a condition that the demolition works (excluding the air raid shelter) must commence within four months of the date of the decision (13th January).
So a little later than expected, the works are finally underway.
