John Hilsum, chairman of Ventnor Cricket Club and founder and trustee of Newclose Cricket Ground, sadly passed away on Saturday 6th August.
Hugely influential in the world of cricket on the Isle of Wight, John was awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) for voluntary services to cricket and the community in the 2016 New Year’s Honours List.
John’s life will be celebrated at a service on 1st September at 1pm at St Catherine’s Church, Ventnor, followed by drinks at Steephill.
The Isle of Wight Cricket Board said that John will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered.
