It’ll be no surprise to hear that a severe weather warning has been issued by the Met Office.
Given this, the Environment Agency, Hampshire Constabulary and Isle of Wight Council are issuing advice to Islanders as heavy rain and strong winds are expected over the weekend.
We understand that gale force winds of up to 70 miles per hour are expected all along the south coast of England with a high tide surging at around 9am tomorrow.
Protect against flooding
Flood warnings have been issued by the Environment Agency for Yarmouth, Cowes, East Cowes and Newport
If you live in any of these areas, you’re advised to take action now to protect your property from flooding.
If possible move valuables and important documents upstairs and bring inside any items which may cause damage or may be damaged.
Only use the road if you absolutely need to
Several trees have already come down today and more are expected over two next two days, so do take extra care when driving.
Look out for tree branches, roofing tiles and unstable chimney stacks could be dislodged.
Time to batten down the hatches. If you have to go out, dress for the occasion and only do it if necessary.
