Readers will remember the Ofsted inspection report back in December 2012 which found that after being placed in Special Measures a few months earlier, Shanklin CE Primary School was on the road to recovery.
The school has confirmed that its current head teacher David Moorse, who has been with them for less than a year, will be permanently replaced in September when the school becomes an Academy run by the Portsmouth Diocese.
St Blasius CE Primary Academy
After consultation with the parents and pupils, it was decided to name the new school St Blasius CE Primary Academy.
Sandra Matthews, from Milford on Sea CE Primary School will act as executive headteacher two days a week until a permanent head is appointed.
New uniform badge
The only changes to the uniform will be the new badge.
The Academy will be offering every pupil a free sweater or cardigan with the new school badge on.
Priest: “Make a new start”
Cabinet member for Children’s Services, Richard Priest, who is also chair of Governors at the school said,
“This is a chance for the school to make a new start in the way it has worked in other places.
“We want to use this opportunity to improve the quality of teaching , improve attainment and provide the best education for our pupils.”
