Just heard the very sad news that Pink Floyd legend, Syd Barrett died last Friday of complications related to diabetes.
He founded Pink Floyd in 1965 with Roger Waters and was replaced by Dave Gilmour in 1968 when he left the band after struggling with mental instability.
He went on to release two albums, The Madcap Laughs and Barrett, and in 1988 a compilation album of studio out takes, Opel. He has spent his last years living a reclusive life in the suburbs of Cambridge.
Tributes from the music business have been pouring in ….
“Syd was the guiding light of the early band lineup and leaves a legacy which continues to inspire.” From the members of Pink Floyd
R.I.P. Syd, you’ve been missed for years and will continue to shine on in all our memories.
