Short Story Competition For 7-13 Year Olds

Short Story Competition For 7-13 Year OldsWith World Book Day just passed, we imagine that there may be lots of kids out there with their heads in books and their imaginations being fed with wonderful stories and characters.

If that’s the case, then make sure you tell them about a new short story competition being launched by the Lord Louis Library in Newport.

Our only major bookshop on the Island, Waterstones, is supporting the competition by providing prizes and those bastions of creative writing, The County Press, will be assisting in the judging.

Budding authors have until Friday 3 April 2009 to get their entries in to the Lord Louis Library and the competition will be split between two age groups, seven to ten and 11 to 13.

For those taking part, your short story should be between 200 and 800 words with the title ‘The Magic Book’.

The winners will be announced at a special prize-giving ceremony at Lord Louis library on Wednesday 15 April at 11am.

Good luck to everyone who enters.
