Thanks to Alec for sharing more news from the Isle of Wight Playing Fields Association. In his own words. Ed
On Saturday 11th August, the Island’s County Playing Fields Association (CPFA) had the second plaque unveiling and Dedication at Simeon Field in Ryde.
We had a good turn out of County and Town Councillors. County Councillor Ian Stephens spoke about the good work being carried out by the Playing Fields Association. The prayers of dedication were said by Rev. Marie Attwood of Ryde Methodist Church.
The plaque was unveiled by the Mayor of Ryde, Councillor David Woodward, who reiterated the words of Ian Stephens.
Additional sites suggested
After the dedication, we were approached by a local councillor who suggested some additional sites, these will all be investigated.
Our next outing will be on 1st September at Church Litten in Newport, when this site will be dedicated as a QEII Jubilee Field.
Andrew Turner MP, will be giving the address and the Lord Lieutenant will be unveiling the Commemorative Plaque.
We will have the Corps of Drums from TS Osborne Sea Cadet Corpsto give us a good start.
