Rachel Rocks popped along to this charity event in Ryde a couple of weeks ago. She’ll be going back for more of the same in the summer. Ed
Romance was in the air at The WightRock Bar in Ryde earlier this month, raising £400 for chronic pain charity, The Paige Trust.
Warmly hosted by Karly Alexander, Melissa Groves and Rachelle Lunness, the Singles Mingle event was lively and fun with a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
An evening of sophistication
The entrance was sophisticated and everyone was greeted with cocktails and canapes. The bar quickly filled and there were icebreaker games to make finding that special someone a little bit easier.
For those not brave enough to join in, the balloon game was great fun to watch from the sidelines, as balloons were passed enthusiastically and competitively from person to person without hands!
Let there be music
The night was a true family affair as event organiser Melissa’s brother, Seb Sebotage Clark took to the stage and performed a lively set for the singles who were in the mood to party! Everyone sang and danced along to Sebotage’s inspired versions of The Killers’ ‘Mr Brightside’, Oasis’ ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’ and U2’s ‘With or Without You’.
Clark’s cheeky banter suited the event perfectly as he laughed and joked between songs and invited people to sing with him.
One of the many highlights being Andrea Corr lookalike, Rachelle Lunness singing the Stereophonics’ ‘Dakota’ with him. Their beautifully blended harmonies had everyone entertained.
The fun atmosphere gave people the chance to dance and get to know new people in a friendly and sociable manner.
Enough cash for a new wheelchair
With the raffle bringing the thoroughly enjoyable evening to a close, it was announced that £400 had been raised to put towards a new wheelchair for The Paige Trust – a charity close to the event organisers’ hearts.
Back for more latest this summer
In this day and age of Internet dating, it was great to have a fun night out to meet new people by stepping out from behind the computer screen.
There appeared to be some matches made in heaven, but if you didn’t find your Mr or Miss Right this time, maybe you’ll be lucky at the next event with an 80s, 90s, noughties theme this summer.
