ellie chambers and friends at end of 25 mile walk for Gaza

Sixth form students turn 25-mile challenge into a powerful act of solidarity with children in Gaza

A group of sixth formers, including Ellie Chambers, took on an incredible challenge on Sunday 16th February, walking 25 miles across the Isle of Wight.

Their route started in Newport, crossed to the Needles, and finished in Shalfleet.

The distance was chosen deliberately—it mirrors the length of the Gaza Strip, making the walk a symbolic journey in support of children affected by the conflict.

Over £1,000 Raised for UNICEF
Through their efforts, the team has already raised more than £1,000 for UNICEF.

Every step they took was dedicated to highlighting the struggles faced by children in war-torn areas.

The money raised will contribute to UNICEF’s essential work, including vaccinations, education and protection for vulnerable children worldwide.

Aiming for £1,500
Ellie and her team are now hoping to reach their fundraising target of £1,500.

At the time of writing, their total stands at £1,136.

Their commitment to making a difference has been met with great support and donations are still coming in.

A personal and powerful journey
This walk was not just about fundraising; it was also a way to raise awareness of the hardships faced by children in conflict zones.

By walking the length of Gaza, the team aimed to bring attention to the daily realities many children endure. Their dedication has turned a physical challenge into a meaningful act of solidarity.

Those who wish to support their cause can still contribute and help them reach their final target.
