Snow Alert: School Bus Provision Unlikely For Monday

*** Later information on Monday’s buses now available. ***

We’ve received this update below from Southern Vectis with regard to the school bus provision on Monday.

We’re still awaiting details of which schools will be closed (expect to be update later this afternoon), but please note that all High Schools will be open for those taking exams tomorrow.

Southern Vectis: It is unlikely that school transport will be able to be provided on Monday from numerous parts of the Island.

We are aware that a number of students need to attend GCSE and A Level exams on Monday.

If normal school transport services are unable to operate, we will put in place an emergency service specifically for students who need to attend GCSE and A Level exams where we can.

This service is exclusively available for students attending exams and who hold a valid IW Council issued ‘term ticket’.

Parents whose children require transport should text or leave a voicemail message on the following number

07875 231716
by 3pm on Sunday 10 January 2010

The text / voice message must clearly provide the following information:

* Student Name
* School Attending
* Number of normal school route used (eg 55,94)
* Nearest Bus Stop (the name of the bus stop displayed on the bus stop flag)
* Contact mobile tel no for parent if available
* Contact tel number for parent for the period Sunday 3pm to 9pm

On Sunday afternoon all requirements will be collated and parents will be contacted by email, text or telephone to confirm the estimated time and location for collection on Monday morning. We will also give a return departure time from school – there will only be a single departure time, which may be some time after the exam has concluded.

It is a requirement that a parent accompanies their child to the bus stop and remains with them until transport arrives. We cannot guarantee that road conditions will permit operation, or that the vehicle will be able to maintain the time given. All arrangements are subject to our ability to run in very difficult conditions.
