Refuse collections
No surprise to hear that there’ll be no refuse collections today.

Residents should store their waste until their usual collection day next week.

Anyone who has left their waste outside should collect it and store it appropriately.

Public services
Medina leisure Centre, Heights leisure centre and Waterside pool will close at 15.00, meaning that there will be no junior swimming lessons but the staff will contact everyone that has a child booked in for a lesson.

Westridge squash and tone zone will remain closed.

The council is reviewing the opening of the facilities for tomorrow and will provide a further update in due course.

Sandown, Ryde and Newport Tourism Information Centres open.

All Youth Centres will be closed tonight due to the weather conditions.

Efforts are also being made to ensure the IW Crematorium is cleared.

Polling will take place in the Calbourne by-election despite the conditions.

Help Centres
Newport and Sandown Help Centres are open. (Ryde Help Centre is normally closed on Thursdays)

Adult social care
Gouldings – Open – Daycare cancelled with all clients due in today being checked on

Adelaide – Open – Daycare cancelled with all clients due in today being checked on

Westminster House – Open

Homecare – Non urgent calls are being cancelled but homecare still operational with the council’s countryside rangers providing 4×4 vehicle support.

Meals on Wheels – Operating as normal

Health Services
Patients and visitors to the hospital are advised to only travel to the hospital if it is safe to do so

Outpatient Appointments

  • Outpatients appointments for today, Thursday 2nd December, are cancelled
  • Your appointment it will be automatically rearranged.

Community Clinics
All community clinics are cancelled today, Thursday 2nd December. Your appointment it will be automatically rearranged.

Scheduled Operations / Surgery
Day case surgery today, Thursday 2nd December, is cancelled.

Decisions about in-patient surgery are being made on a case by case basis.

Heartcare Club
The Heart Care Club which usually meets at the Riverside Centre on Thursdays is cancelled.

Pharmacies
Pharmacies are an excellent local resource for health advice and can provide confidential consultations.

At 12:30 on Thursday 2nd December all pharmacies on the Island are open except three which are are: Boots (Sandown); Lloyds (Ventnor); and Boots (Ventnor).
