The Solent Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) is seeking a new member for its Skills Advisory Panel from the Voluntary and Community sector to help the development of a world-class workforce and drive the region’s future economic success.
Chair of the Solent LEP Skills Advisory Panel, Rachael Randall, said,
“The work of the Solent Skills Advisory Panel has never been more important as we start to recover from the impact of the Covid pandemic. Education and skills are critical to our region’s future economic prosperity; and key to this is an employment and skills system which meets the needs of employers, providing our communities with greater opportunities and inspiring our future workforce.
“Skills development plays a vital role in providing the opportunities needed for the region’s residents, workforce and businesses to remain competitive and grow.
“We are looking for a new panel member on our Skills Advisory Panel to reflect the collective views of the Voluntary and Community sector, operate at a strategic level, and help deliver the priorities of the Solent LEP Skills Action Plan. The Solent economy is diverse and we are keen to ensure that this diversity is reflected in the panel membership, so that we draw on expertise from as broad a base as possible.”
What is the Skills Advisory Panel?
The Skills Advisory Panel is a well-established advisory panel to the Solent LEP Board, and is an established forum with existing private sector representation from a range of our key sectors, including maritime, aerospace, visitor economy, banking and finance, HR, and the digital sectors.
Skills Advisory Panels aim to strengthen the capabilities of Local Enterprise Partnerships to carry out high quality analysis which will be used to identify their skills and employment needs and priorities, as well as inform their skills agenda, and improve their economic outcomes.
This will assist local areas to develop Action Plans to address skills issues which, in turn, can give more people in the local community access to high quality skills provision that leads to good jobs.
