A quartet of Isle of Wight Steam Punks are pooling their engineering know-how, infectious enthusiasm and general off-the-wall approach to life to be part of something very special in a couple of weeks time.
The Red Bull Soapbox Race
Islanders, Phil Payne (mountain biker), Dave Squibb (wake boarder), Gary Payne (moto x rider) and Rob Baker (mountain boarder), have joined forces to take part in the Red Bull Soapbox Race.
The Red Bull Soapbox Race is an international event in which amateur drivers race homemade soapbox vehicles.
Each hand-made machine is fuelled by nothing but sheer courage, the force of gravity and perhaps a little Red Bull.
The lads created the video below to tempt the organisers and it worked. They are now fully immersed in creating their spectacular soapbox vehicle to race at Alexandra Palace on 12th July.
