Following the news that Vivarail – the company that built Island Line’s Class 484 trains – filed a Notice of Intention to appoint administrators last month, the future of the trains on the Island is now looking less uncertain.
Another railway company that uses trains built by Vivarail decided to temporarily suspend some of their services last week, as they felt they could no guarantee the required level of maintenance for the trains.
SWR: Confident we’ll be able to continue to obtain support needed
A spokesperson for South Western Railway told News OnTheWight this afternoon,
“Vivarail currently provide some technical support and parts for the trains on the Island Line.
“Whatever the resolution to their situation, we’re confident we will be able to continue to obtain the support needed to maintain the fleet effectively going forward.”
