Paula shares details of changes to Southern Vectis’ bus routes over the winter. Ed
Southern Vectis is announcing a change to its services from Sunday 2 October.
The operator has reviewed all of its routes across the Island, based on feedback and the changing travel patterns of its customers.
Matt Kitchin, Southern Vectis general manager, said,
“We continuously review our services and respond – wherever necessary – with changes and enhancements. The team is keeping a very close eye on the response to our winter service revisions – and welcomes feedback from our customers.”
Summary of winter service changes from Sunday 2 October:
Route 1
There will be a major change to the routing.
Alternate journeys will run via either Round House and Four Cross or Park & Ride and Medical Centre giving slightly faster end-to-end journeys between Newport and Cowes. Three Gates Road will no longer be served.
All journeys will once again serve the Red Jet Terminal when the Jets are operating, and the opportunity to remain on the bus to cross from one side of Cowes to the other will be reintroduced. Please check our website for the completely new timetable.
Route 2:
Evening journeys between Newport and Sandown are withdrawn for the winter period.
Route 3:
The 11.35pm service from Newport on Sundays has been retimed.
Route 4:
On Sundays the first round trip is withdrawn again for the winter period. Timings in the Binstead area are amended.
Route 6:
The winter timetable is reintroduced, with a revised timetable running approximately every two hours. Most journeys will run via Buddle Inn & Bannock Road, however Ventnor Botanic Gardens will no longer be served. The timetable has been developed in consultation with Parish Councils along the route – check our website for details.
A winter Sunday service will operate this year, funded by the Parish Councils along the route.
Route 7:
Monday to Friday evening frequency is revised for the winter period to approximately hourly, with changes to some intermediate journey timings during the day.
Route 9:
Timings in the Binstead area are amended to improve reliability.
Route 12:
The Sunday service is withdrawn for the winter period.
Route 22:
Timetable is completely revised – check the website carefully. Journeys via the Esplanade will additionally run to Shanklin Old Village following customer requests. The route taken will be via Chine Avenue and High Street instead of Palmerston Road.
Route 24:
The days on which this service will run have changed, the route will run Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday but not Wednesday. It also features a completely revised timetable, please check the website carefully.
Route 37:

Routes 5, 8, 32, 38 and 39 are unchanged.
