Southern Vectis have announced their annual fares increase, which apply as of yesterday.
Single fares under £3 will rise by 20p, over £3 by 30p. They claim this is due to a large increase in fuel prices, and increased insurance costs caused by higher compensation payments.
Rover and Freedom tickets will remain unchanged, so will more often provide better value. The existing £3 evening return, valid on Sunday to Thursday evenings will be replaced by a new “Nightrider” ticket which will provide unlimited travel between 1900 & 0700 for £4 per night and will be available every night.
Also National Union of Student (NUS) members will in future be able to buy any tickets for half fare.
Wightbus aren’t planning to increase fares so, for anyone travelling between Ventnor and Shanklin, the rail link service 16 will be considerably cheaper.
