Bus services through Ventnor over the Christmas and New Year period will again be improved this year. Normal services will run on all days except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Years Day.
On Christmas Eve normal services will run on all routes with the last bus from Ryde to Ventnor at 2315, continuing from Ventnor at 0004 to Newport. The last bus from Newport to Ventnor will be at 2340, continuing from Ventnor at 0013 to Shanklin and Ryde.
On Christmas Day, as usual, there will be no bus or train services.
On Boxing Day service 3 will run hourly between Ryde and Newport via Ventnor from about 9 o’clock in the morning and will then continue to run 24 hours a day as usual throughout the holiday period. There will also be an earlier bus from Ventnor to Shanklin and Ryde at 0811. Apart from a half-hourly service between Newport and Cowes and a direct service between Newport and Ryde, there will be a very limited service on routes 4,5,7, and 14 only, which will run until about 6 o’clock in the evening and which will be financed by the IW Council. There will be no Island Line trains on Boxing Day.
On New Years Day a Sunday service will run on all Island bus routes. Island Line will operate a special hourly service.
Last year Wightbus decided not to run service 31 at all between Christmas and New Year but this year, following complaints from the IW Bus Users’ Group, they have decided to run a normal service on Thursday 27th, Friday 28th, and Monday 31st, so that residents of Bonchurch and Stenbury View will have the opportunity to take the bus.
