In a gesture of respect and gratitude, Southern Vectis has announced its plans to offer complimentary travel to both serving and veteran military personnel.
This generous initiative is set to take place on Sunday 25th June, coinciding with the Isle of Wight Armed Forces Day.
Andrew Wickham, Southern Vectis’s managing director, voiced the company’s respect for the military and its commitment to the community.
“People on the Isle of Wight are rightfully proud of our country’s military – as is our team here.”
Community support for the Armed Forces
Southern Vectis’s decision to offer free travel is in recognition of the immense efforts and sacrifices made by service personnel.
Andrew Wickham elaborated on this, stating,
“The work our troops have done in the past, and still do now, in unimaginably hostile war zones is incredibly humbling.”
This initiative, though small in nature, is designed to acknowledge these extraordinary efforts and provide support to the troops in their endeavours. The goal is to enable them to participate in the Isle of Wight Armed Forces Day events or to visit family and friends with ease.
Eligibility for the free travel initiative
As per Wickham’s announcement, all individuals in military uniform, displaying medals, or possessing a military ID card will be welcomed on board Southern Vectis buses without charge for the entire day on 25th June.
