Thanks to Bryn for this update from last night’s cup race. In his own words. Ed
Heavy mist and fog rolled into Smallbrook stadium last night and left referee, Christina Turnbull, no option other than to abandon the Wightlink Islanders National League KO Cup clash with league leaders Dudley.
Just six of the scheduled fifteen heats had been completed with the visitors leading 21-15 when conditions deteriorated rapidly and a break was taken from racing in the hope that conditions might improve.
Could see across circuit
Those conditions were such that you couldn’t see from one side of the race circuit to the other and riders couldn’t see ahead of them as they powered their 500cc machines into the turns thus spelling real danger if racing had been allowed to continue at that stage
Unfortunately those conditions didn’t improve and after discussions between the referee, riders and officials of both sides, the match was inevitably abandoned at that stage much to everyone’s disappointment of course.
