Alas there was no British Under 21 title success for any of the three Wightlink Islanders trio, Tom Perry, Darryl Ritchings, and Danny Stoneman, who competed in last night’s final of the competition at the Monmore Green circuit in Wolverhampton.
Although naturally disappointed they didn’t lift the title itself, all three Islanders rode well in the heats, Perry winning through to the semi-final with 11 points from five rides, whilst Ritchings (8pts) and Stoneman (7pts) only just failed to join him.
Unfortunately Tom P took a tumble in the semi-final race bringing his title charge to an abrupt end but we’re pleased to report he wasn’t injured in the crash and he, and the rest of the Wightlink Islanders squad are now looking forward to Sunday’s away National Trophy match at Buxton and next Tuesday’s opening home match of the season against Stoke.
