Thanks to Bryn for this update from speedway team, the Wightlink Islanders. In his own words. Ed
Hopefully the weather gods will be a whole lot kinder to us than last Thursday when we take a break from league and cup action at Smallbrook tomorrow (Tuesday) evening as twelve National League stars contest the WPA Healthcare Trophy, each hoping to emerge on top of the pile to claim individual glory.
The Wightlink Islanders trio of Danny Warwick, Ben Hopwood and Paul Starke have all set their sights on finishing in first place.
Face stiff opposition
As well as racing against each other they face stiff opposition from nine others drawn mainly from other NL Clubs but there’s also a chance for a new young Australian to impress in the hope of getting a UK team berth in 2013.
That young Aussie is former Under 16 champion Brady Kurtz whose elder brother Todd rides for Plymouth in the Premier League and other visiting riders tomorrow are Stoke’s trio of Ross Walter, Simon Lambert and Ben Reade, Ex-Islander Brendan Johnson and his King’s Lynn team mate Lewis Kerr, James Sargeant and Ben Morley from Rye House and finally a second ex-Islander in the shape of Buxton’s Dean Felton.
As usual the action will get underway at 7.20pm with the introduction of riders and the first race scheduled to get underway ten minutes later.
