Leap into spring holidays with a week of art and craft activities to engage creative minds on offer at the Quay from Sat 5 Apri.
The week kicks off on Saturday 5 April at 10am with a T Shirt Screenprinting workshop with Ros Williams for kids ages 13+ – a chance to learn the whole process from preparing the screen to printing the final image.
Then on Monday 7 April younger children, ages 8+, can take part in Animal Antics with Biddy O’Grady, an experienced local illustrator, and have fun exploring illustration through paint, collage and drawing inspired by nursery rhymes and favourite children’s stories.
Tuesday and Wednesday 8 and 9 April provide children (aged 8+) with the chance to take part in a two day workshop with Biddy making an alphabet frieze using a wide variety of exciting and colourful techniques as used by the creator of The Hungry Caterpillar, Eric Carl.
The arts activities continue on Thursday 10 April with a Clay Day: Bunny Book Ends workshop from 10am-2.30pm (£12.50 per place). This will give kids the opportunity to get to grips with clay and produce a piece to be proud of, with tutor Clair Robinson.
Biddy O’Grady continues on Friday 11 April with Fanciful Beasts from 10-2.30pm – inspired by sea serpents, mermaids, fawns and dodo birds come and create an amazing one of your own!
Finally on Saturday 12 April from 10am-2pm there is another FREE workshop where ALL ages are welcome to come and make their own Spring Creation!
The session is organised so that children (accompanied by an adult) can drop-in for a short time and make something to take away with them. It will be run by local artists Janice Thwaites, Jenny Clayden and Malai Stimson, who give their time voluntarily in order to provide a free event though contributions towards materials are always welcome!
Don’t forget – regular Drop-In Family sessions in the Pottery studio are on offer year round on Saturdays from 10am-12.30pm – learn to throw pots on the wheel and hand build you own designs using a variety of clays with tutors Dawn Campbell or Clair Robinson.
